📍Antone’s Nightclub – Austin, TX | 5/31/25
On Saturday night, Antone’s wasn’t a blues club — it was an indie rock sanctuary, and Sarah and the Sundays were the high priests of emotional chaos.
The Austin-based band returned to home turf with a sold-out show that felt part house party, part sonic therapy session. From the jump, it was clear the crowd wasn’t just there to listen — they were there to feel something.
They opened with “Casanova,” a brooding slow burn that hit like a late-night text you shouldn't send, setting the tone for a night of catharsis wrapped in catchy hooks. From there, the energy kept building — the band moved with the kind of cohesion that only comes from living in each other’s vans and rehearsal rooms.
Frontman Liam Yorgensen had the crowd locked in, teetering between detached cool and all-out confession. At one point, they debuted a brand new track, “Not So Far From Home,” and the room went dead silent — a rare and respectful kind of hush that only happens when a crowd knows they’re witnessing a moment.
“Take Your Time” hit hard, turning the venue into a singalong swarm, but it was the MGMT cover of “Kids” that caught us off guard — part homage, part indie-kid fever dream, and fully euphoric.
By the time they came back for the encore, the place was sweaty, charged, and begging for more. They closed with “Vices” — a perfect exhale to the night’s emotional inhale.
Sarah and the Sundays proved once again that they’re not just riding the indie wave — they’re helping shape it. And if Saturday night was any indication, their next era is coming in hot.
