What a night! I had the pleasure of attending the Party for the Parks, and let me tell you, it was an unforgettable evening filled with food, fun, and a whole lot of heart—all in support of Austin’s beautiful parks.
From the moment we arrived at Zilker Park, the atmosphere was electric. The event was perfectly nestled in the excitement of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and it was clear that everyone was ready to celebrate our green spaces. The Austin Parks Foundation really knows how to throw a party!
The evening kicked off with an impressive array of delicious bites from Taco Deli and drinks with Tito’s Vodka that showcased the best local flavors. I may or may not have gone back for seconds (or thirds) of those amazing tacos and nachos. And let’s not forget the games! The Tipsy Toss and Gift Card Gamble were crowd favorites, and I found myself laughing alongside fellow park lovers as we tossed our way to some fun prizes. Who knew fundraising could be this much fun?
The highlight, of course, was the live auction. Bidding on luxury getaways and fine dining experiences was an exhilarating experience, and it felt great to know that every dollar raised was going directly to benefit Austin’s nearly 400 parks, trails, and green spaces. I may have made a mental note to practice my auction paddling for next year!
As the night went on, the energy in the room built up, culminating in an incredible private concert with none other than Orville Peck. His unique sound and captivating stage presence had everyone singing along and dancing. It was the perfect way to end an evening dedicated to celebrating our parks and community.
This year’s Party for the Parks was not only a blast, but it also reinforced how important it is to support our local green spaces. Kudos to the Austin Parks Foundation for putting together such a fantastic event! If you missed it this year, don’t worry—start planning for next year’s 11th celebration! You won’t want to miss out on this amazing combination of revelry and fundraising that makes a real difference in our city.
In short, it was a night of great food, fantastic music, and a whole lot of love for our parks.
